We remember today the words of our savior, Jesus Christ: “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”
Almighty and eternal God, from whom all blessings flow, accept our prayers and thanksgivings for your servant Bill Chapman.
Give us, we pray, grateful hearts for the courageous willingness of our veterans to enter into danger on our behalf. In your mercy, bind up the injured, and replenish the spirits of those wounded in body or soul. Help us to honor and serve those who have served in our name.
Eternal God, we commend to your protection and care all members of the Marine Corps. Guide and direct them in the defense of our country and in the maintenance of justice among the nations. Sustain them in the hour of danger. Grant that wherever they serve they may be always faithful to their high traditions, and that at all times they may put their trust in you.
All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
